Where words that reflect lives flow freely.

Rodney Nelson     - - - I miss my little brother.  Love you Rod. - Tomaca

I worked on this book for ten years of my life in good times, bad times, and times when I was so happy and had high hopes. These poems are a part of my life.  Each of them have some part of me, my days of being in love,

my days that I was away in prison.

Times when I was happy to have a son.  And the sad times as well, like the passing of my father.  That hurt me so because I was in jail. The death of all my friends and pain. All these things played a part in my life’s story.

This book may never get published, but to me and my feelings it has been copied over and over.

All the time I spent days being by myself,  the pain of not telling anyone how I feel and the need to be loved.

My time is coming soon, I know.

I hope all the people I hurt can forgive me.  It’s in my book.

Excerpt from Rodney's book:

I would like to tell you a little more of myself. Half of these poems were written during a very long and cold time in my life. I was doing an 8-year sentence from October 1984 all the way to 1991. I missed some very good times.  My son was getting older and the lady of my life walked away from me.

I Love You Tracy

In each and everything that you do

Longing for your touch when the day is enough

Only hoping that it never ends

Vibrating through my soul, the feeling it sends

Echoing in my heart like an endless song

Yearning to love you by my side all night long

Only you can cheer me up when I’m feeling blue

Understanding me seems to come easy for you

Touching me in that special way that only you can

Reminding me that I’ll always be your loving man

Always showing me how sweet love can be

Caring, lovingly about my needs and me

You’re a special lady and that’s why I love you  Tracy.

Fool for Your Love

Some will say that love ain’t nothin’ but a game

That fools and losers are all the same

And you always lose when you play

But I don’t care just what they say

Cause I’m a fool for your love forever.

People tell me that love comes to a foolish end

And that my broken heart won’t ever mend

I don’t listen and they don’t know

The tender sweet love that you show

So I’m a fool for your love forever.

They may say that I’m a fool, but I don’t care

I will always want you to be here

Side by side, just two fools in love

And never getting quite enough

And I’m a fool for your love forever.

Sometimes there was no paper to write on.
I used whatever I could find.  The poem
above was written on toilet paper.

Wings

I have wings

But I dare not fly

I am free, yet still I’m confined

And I know of pain

Someone please teach me to cry

A Lover’s Night

There’s a full moon in the sky
A million stars dancing their melody
I wish we didn’t have to say good-bye
But I guess that’s just how it’s got to be

I remember making love
The two of us on a night just like this
As the night played its love song up above
Beneath the sky we were locked in a kiss

The night was you and me
Our only wish that it would never end
In our eyes was all that we could see
On each other’s love we learned to
depend

It’s another lover's night
But the two of us must spend it apart
You’re not with me but love is still in sight
Because I keep it there inside my heart
